Kiki's LOGiSTiX
Kiki underwent 2 open heart surgeries in her first week of life.
A fragile and weak baby, Kiki spent the beginning of her life in the NICU – Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
At the age of 3, Kiki was adopted. She was non-verbal, fed through a stomach tube, underweight and on medication for high blood pressure and heart disease.
On her 4th birthday, still non-verbal, Kiki experienced her first fully attended birthday party. At the end of the day, as she sat on the family bed and gently touched her many presents, Kiki spoke her first complete sentence to herself – a very precisely articulated “Happy Birthday”.
Today, Kiki is a very verbal and robust 26 year old young adult, but a forever little girl. She has a condition known as 22q.11.2 deletion or “DeGeorge Syndrome”, Kiki is missing a sub-microscopic piece of the 22nd chromosome
Kiki has mental challenges. She and daddy have developed a wonderful working relationship.
Kiki's essential existence has changed the LOGiSTiX of our lives.
